Sassetta is well-known for its good food, and among its specialities are “wild boar Sassetta style” and
flavoursome dishes based on game, mushrooms and "polenta".
To start, there are tasty "tortelli" – pasta shapes stuffed with ricotta cheese and vegetables – or mushroom
and onion soups, and to finish, homemade desserts, figs in oil, chestnut jam and cherries with "vinsanto" (sweet white raisin wine).
Prestigious Costa degli Etruschi wines and rich olive oil provide an excellent accompaniment to these dishes. Fruit,
vegetables, sheep’s cheese, preserves and honey – frequently organically grown - can be acquired directly from the producers.
