Antignano - Livorno
This is one of the most famous surf spots in Italy because of the type of wave generated. It owes its name (which means ‘the salt’) to a rock which is covered in sea salt during the summer months.
This is a much visited spot both in summer and winter, in whatever sea conditions. In fact, it is one of the few spots in Italy where weather and sea conditions are similar to those of the oceanic coasts.
The waves are good with a west, north-west and south-west diminishing swell: the wave curls over creating a tube, both to the right and the left, in a short but fast run that makes for exciting surfing.
Rocky outcrops and numerous sea urchins make this a dangerous site, suitable for experts only.
