A - livorno (loc. Cisternino) - Valle Benedetta
B - valle benedetta - le serre
C - le serre valle del cecina
D - valle del cecina - bolgheri (loc. campo di sasso)
E - bolgheri - poderi cancellini
F - poderi cancellini parco montioni

Each of the six sections provides for a local expert of the SentieriEtruschi Association who as well as having contributed to planningthe route of the horseback trail, is also a point of reference forhorses and riders with regard to information or sometimes providing technical or practical advice on carrying out the route. Rest areas are foreseen along the route, but above all stop-overpoints for horses and riders.

As far as refreshments are concerned, there are often places toeat and drink along the horseback trail, or very nearby.

Organizing the journey

The whole route can be done independently with your ownhorse, but it is better to use local guides who know the trail andconnected services well, without counting possible emergencieswhich may require the services of a vet or blacksmith. The horseback trail comprises the main axis but it can be comple-ted in circular day rides which start and begin in the same place.

Inthis case, organization requires less effort and you can count onthe various specialized centres along the way.

The circular routesallow areas of great interest which are not on the horseback trail tobe explored. They lead towards the coast and its beaches and towards the hillsof the interior.

The routes are accessible all year round, with preference beinggiven to the intermediate seasons of spring and autumn. Duringthe winter period and at the beginning of spring, you can makeuse of the routes which touch the coasts, while in the hottermonths the shady routes through the hills are more advisable.
