One of the most important
and enchanting tracts of
the Costa degli Etruschi Wine Route
winds its way
through silver olive trees
and noble vines.
It is here that Bolgheri
DOC wines are produced world-class wines such as
Sassicaia and Ornellaia
as well as numerous others
of the highest quality.
This "Eldorado of Italian
wine" as it has been
called, is the result
of nature's generosity, the
climate and the talent of
its wine makers.
Farms, wine cellars
designed by great
architects, small quality
agricultural holdings,
churches and castles
punctuate the Wine Route
as it winds through an
evocative setting of hills
and woods on one side
and the sea on the other,
in a landscape that is
sumptuous and contained
at the same time.
A place of honour is also
reserved for the high
quality extra virgin olive
oil produced with
traditional techniques by
local farms - an excellent
accompaniment to the
natural, full-flavoured foods
and delicious specialties.
The oil has been awarded
the IGP mark and
recognition by the Tuscany
Oil Consortium.
