Val di Cornia’s DOC wines, together with those from Bolgheri, Montescudaio and Bibbona, are typical of the prestigious,
quality wines produced along the Costa degli Etruschi.
In addition to the more traditional vines planted along the Wine Route, pinot bianco and grigio, clairette, ciliegiolo and
ansonica grapes can also be found, proof of the wine producers’ versatility.
The extra-virgin olive oil produced by local growers, is also of excellent quality. Along the Wine Route are farmhouses,
agricultural holdings and farm holiday centres where local produce and gastronomic specialities such as game, fruit
and vegetables, honey, grappa, salami, cured meats and cheeses can be purchased.
A place of honour is reserved for the "Campiglia Schiaccia" a cake with ancient origins which boasts the DOP (protected origin) mark.
