Livorno Hills Park, a fossilised island which joined the mainland in a not too distant era, sweeps down to the sea,
and its network of trails and marked paths makes it a paradise for hikers and nature lovers.
Park vegetation is rich and varied and there are mineral deposits and fossils, rivers and streams and even places of
architectural and historic interest, such as the splendid arches of Acquedotto di Poccianti (Poccianti’s Acquaduct),
the Cisternino Pian di Rota (Pian di Rota Cistern) and villages such as that at Valle Benedetta with its magnificent view
of the town and the sea.
