Quercianella - Livorno

This spot takes its name from the nearby bathing establishment, the "Bagni Paolieri". As far as surfing is concerned, the best wave conditions are found when there is a sizeable mistral or libeccio swell. The left wave is very long, quite easy and rounded, and the only difficulty is represented by the rocks which make getting in and out of the water problematic.

The spot is busy during the summer. As for windsurfing, this is only possible in the presence of the hot afternoon winds during the summer. The mistral is never very strong, so equipment for medium-light winds is recommended.

type of sport: windsurfing and surfing

level of difficulty: intermediate-advanced for surfing easy for windsurfing

facilities: Bathing establishments, restaurants and bars.

how to get there:

from the north: Leave the A12 motorway (Genova-Rosignano) at the "Livorno" exit. Take the bypass and follow to the end, then continue on the SS1 Aurelia road, along the panoramic ‘Romito’ road for about 5 km. Take the first turning on the right and follow the road down to the small marina at Quercianella.

from the south: At the end of the SS1 Aurelia heading for Livorno you will come to the village of Quercianella. Go past the village along Via del Littorale, then turn left and follow the road down to the marina.
