The blue blood of this noble land, which is famous for its Cabernet, Sassicaia and Ornellaia, runs along the
Bolgherese road. Noble in its soul and simple in its traditions, the countryside of Castagneto has quite
unexpectedly discovered itself to be a capital of outdoor tourism.
Even professional cyclists think that it is the best place to go cycling: little traffic, a wide choice
of tracks and a pleasant climate all year round.
In Ecosistema Vacanze classification (a list of the more liveable tourist resorts) by Legambiente, Castagneto
is in the first position in Tuscany and in the third on a national scale. In the last 10 years it has been
awarded the Blue Flag six times, a prestigious prize given by the EU to seaside resorts having the best services
and cleanest sea waters. However, numbers and official lists cannot describe either the atmosphere of these
places or the best stories of these hills.
