castiglioncello (september)
Castiglioncello is a tourist resort of international prestige.
A cross-roads for art and culture, a meeting point for writers, painters, actors and musicians, Castiglioncello has been home to one of the most
important literary prizes in Italy for 20 years.
It takes place on the first Saturday of September at Castello Pasquini and welcomes representatives of the most popular Italian publishing houses.
Every year the winners of three different sections - fiction, biography and texts of tourist interest - take a prize.
Writers of great
renown in Italian literature like Natalia Ginzburg, Norberto Bobbio, Luigi Anderlini and Andrea De Carlo have won in previous years.
During the Castigioncello Prize for literature special prizes are also awarded to famous people who have contributed to the promotion and appreciation of the Coast of the Etruscans. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, Oliviero Toscani, Sarah Fergusson are the most recent winners. A special category for Philosophy is held in February.
