Sassetta is well-known for its good food, and among its specialties are wild boar Sassetta style and flavoursome dishes based on game, mushrooms and polenta.

To start, there are tasty "tortelli" - pasta shapes stuffed with ricotta cheese and vegetables or mushroom and onion soups, and to finish, homemade desserts, figs in oil, chestnut jam and cherries with vinsanto (a dessert wine).

Prestigious wines produced along the Costa degli Etruschi Wine Route and rich olive oil provide an excellent accompaniment to these dishes. Fruit, vegetables, sheep's cheese, preserves and honey frequently organically grown - can be acquired directly from the producers.

All kinds of Sassetta specialties accompanied by the excellent Costa degli Etruschi wines can be tried during the fests, while meat cooks on gigantic spits in the middle of the town square.
